On Wednesday 16th December Headteacher Mr Dominic Robson assisted the construction team at Manton's on the STEM Block site ably supported by Dr John Craggs DL (Chair of Governors) and also Mr Clive Richards OBE DL who has significantly supported the STEM Block project.
Guests were treated to a tour of the recently demolished interior of the existing Randon Centre by Architect Richard Johnson who shared the project plans with guests before they were led outside to see how the ceremonial ash handled silver spade coped with being put into action.
A tour of the outside area of the site then took place where significant progress has been achieved with a third of the foundations now in place and the first part of the steel structure being erected adjacent to the Clive Richards Music Centre.
Headteacher Dominic Robson then gave an address that underlined his sincere appreciation to all those in the school community who have supported the project financially and highlighted the projects importance in supporting the school's vision of 'Inspiration and Excellence'
Excellent News: Construction work has now started !
A fence was erected around the proposed building area on Monday 13th October and our building contractor E Manton Ltd started to set up the site. The trees at the side of the Sports Hall as detailed in the planning application have been removed and there has been groundwork to prepare for the crib wall that will run along the side of the Sports Hall. This will be built during the half term break.
"It is really inspiring to finally see our plans coming to fruition. I know that the new build will have such a positive impact on the quality of provision our school can offer in STEM."
Dominic Robson, Headteacher, October 2015.
